Leon Kondic found the back of the net with just 53 seconds left on the clock to win the match.

Jack Lewis hit Kondic with a quick pass on the right side of the box, who uncorked a right-footed blast off the outside of the foot to beat the Wildcat keeper inside the far post.

It was Kondic’s first collegiate goal and gave Louisville (4-1-0) its first win in Lexington since 2014. The two teams played a physical match and combined for 16 shots in the first half. It was more of the same in the second half, eventually resulting in each team have a player sent off at 57 minutes. Olayinka Ogunleye was given his second yellow card for the Cards, while Kentucky freshman Mateo Franzotti earned a red. That left both teams with only 10 players on the pitch.

JP Jordan, Gage Guerra, Josh Jones, Ola Arnsten and Louisville head coach John Michael Hayden were also shown yellow cards throughout game play. Sophomore Isaiah Chisolm earned one for the Wildcats.

Kentucky (1-2-1) keeper Casper Mols recorded seven saves, and the Cats had five shots on goal, but were unable to find the net. For Louisville, keeper Harvey Sellers kept the net clean with a season-best five saves.

The Cardinals ended the night with a 20-16 advantage in shots, 8-5 on target and a 9-5 edge in corner kicks.

Louisville heads back into conference play, facing Pittsburgh on Friday in its first ACC road match of the season. The Wildcats head to Nashville to take on Lipscomb on Saturday.
