LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville football has set its promotional calendar for its six-game home slate at L&N Stadium, which includes honoring two former stars.

The Cardinals will honor Harry Douglas' No. 85 jersey Sept. 7 against Jacksonville State, followed by Teddy Bridgewater's No. 5 jersey Oct. 19 during their homecoming game against Miami. 

Douglas, who played for the Cardinals from 2004-2007, is one of the top receivers in program history with 2,924 career receiving yards. His 223 receiving yards in 13 catches against Kentucky in 2007 remains a school single-game record. He helped Louisville post a 12-1 record in 2006 with 1,265 receiving yards in 70 receptions, the second-most by a Cardinal, while also leading the team to the Big East Championship and an Orange Bowl win over Wake Forest.

Douglas was a third-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons in 2008 and played nine seasons in the NFL for Atlanta and the Tennessee Titans. He's now an NFL analyst for ESPN. 

Before enjoying a nine-season NFL career, Bridgewater played for the Cardinals from 2011-2013. The quarterback threw for 9,817 career yards and 83 touchdowns over 39 games and earned MVP honors leading Louisville to a 33-22 win over No. 2 Florida in the 2013 BCS Sugar Bowl. Bridgewater then passed for 447 yards and three touchdowns against Miami in UofL's Russell Athletic Bowl win. 

Bridgewater was a first-round selection of the Minnesota Vikings in 2014. He played for the Vikings, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and Detroit Lions and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015. Bridgewater was also recently named a member of the 2024 Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame class.

Saturday, Aug. 31 vs. Austin Peay

  • Ville’ns Appreciation Day: The team will celebrate its most loyal student fans with special prizes and giveaways 

Saturday, Sept. 7 vs. Jacksonville State (Harry Douglas Honored Jersey Ceremony)

  • Salute to Service: The Salute to Service game honors veterans and active military personnel through various ticket offers and exclusive recognitions
  • U.S. Army Golden Knights: The U.S. Army Parachute Team, the Golden Knights, will perform a pregame jump into the stadium

Saturday, Sept. 21 vs. Georgia Tech

  • Kids Day: The youngest members of Cardinal Nation will participate in a variety of in-game activities and experiences. Members of the Junior Louie’s Kids Club have first access to activities. Those interested can register at www.gocards.com/kidsclub
  • Extra Yard for Teachers - Educator Appreciation Day: The Cardinals will recognize local educators, including ticket discounts for UofL faculty, staff and those working in local school districts. UofL Athletics said purchases will be restricted to those with specific school email address domains such as "@COUNTY.kyschools.us" or "@louisville.edu." More details will be released with single-game ticket sales
  • Scout Day: Local Boy Scout and Girl Scout Troops have access to discounted group tickets and can pick up an exclusive Louisville scout patch
  • Spirit Day: The Louisville cheer squads and Ladybirds will host a youth clinic prior to kickoff, followed by an on-field performance during the game. UofL Athletics said registration will be available sometime this summer
  • UofL Health halftime performance: The UofL Cardinal Marching Band will present its annual UofL Health halftime performance, paying tribute to survivors in the community
  • U.S. Navy Leap Frogs: The U.S. Navy Parachute Team, the Leap Frogs, will parachute into L&N Stadium for the first time as part of a special pregame ceremony

Saturday, Oct. 5 vs. SMU

  • 50th anniversary of "Rumble in the Jungle": The team will pay homage to Muhammad Ali throughout the game as 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of his "Rumble in the Jungle" fight against George Foreman
  • Cardinal Family Weekend: UofL students will welcome their families to campus for the annual Cardinal Family Weekend  
  • Band Day: The UofL Cardinal Marching Band "Band Day" experience allows high school students to join the group for its pregame practice and perform on the field during halftime

Saturday, Oct. 19 vs. Miami (Teddy Bridgewater Honored Jersey Ceremony) 

  • Homecoming game: The traditional Homecoming Coronation and Alumnus of the Year recognition will take place at halftime
  • Athletics Alumni Weekend: The university is welcoming former student-athletes back to campus for a pregame tailgate party 
  • UofL Hall of Fame Weekend: UofL will recognize its newest Athletics Hall of Fame inductees. The 2024 class, which will be announced at a later date, will be inducted with a ceremony Friday night, Oct. 18

Saturday, Nov. 23 vs. Pitt

  • Senior Day: The Cardinals will honor their senior class during the annual pregame Senior Day celebration 
  • Ag Day: Agricultural vendors and associations from across the state will host a ticketed pregame tailgate at The Alley. Proceeds will benefit the agricultural community. More details will be released at a later date, UofL said 

UofL said season tickets are available starting at $25 per game, and all purchasers will be auto-enrolled into the season ticket membership program. It is a complimentary part of all season ticket packages, including flexible payment plans and savings, an annual membership gift, exclusive events and other perks. Discounted tickets are also available for groups of 20 or more for all six home games.
