GLENDALE, Wis. — One week after a parking garage at Bayshore Town Center in Glendale partially collapsed, drivers who had cars parked inside the structure finally were able to retrieve them.

  • Drivers said they were grateful to have their vehicles back

Thursday morning, drivers had an opportunity to return to the mall and pick up their vehicles. It comes as crews spent the last week working to stabilize the structure.

Rebekah Mains was among the roughly fifty drivers who had cars parked in the structure. Mains said she was pleased to get her car back and was appreciative that it only took a week. However, Mains said not being able to access her car was a significant inconvenience.

“I have two small children going to school right now, have a husband that has been out of the country for the last couple of weeks, it has been a lot for me,” said Mains.

Other drivers, like Glenn Hall, said they were also glad to have their car back. Hall said he has had to rely on friends and family to get him where he needed to go over the past week.

“I had several people, family members, that helped out, made sure I got to church, to work, and got to Beloit when I needed to go,” said Hall. “I have a good support system that I didn’t know I even had.”

Hall said he received some reimbursement from Bayshore for expenses incurred while without a car.
