RACINE, Wis. — Police arrested two male suspects for the June shooting at Graceland Cemetery. The two are also suspected of an additional shooting in 2800 block of Wright Ave. shortly following the cemetery shooting, according to police.
The Racine police department said it arrested Lamarion D. Blair, 19, on Thursday, Aug. 4. The department also said it arrested a 16-year-old from Racine, but did not name him.
Blair and the 16-year-old each face 26 counts of first degree recklessly endangering safety, party to a crime. They also each face two counts of first degree intentional homicide, attempted, party to a crime. Police said there is a possibility more charges could be filed.
Police said the arrests came after an “extensive” investigation into the Graceland Cemetery shooting. The shooting, which took place June 2, injured two females. One victim was 35-years-old and the second was 19-years-old.
Police said they received reports of multiple shots fired.
The shooting occurred at the interment for Da’Shontay L. King Sr., who was fatally shot by Racine police May 20, King’s sister, Natasha Mullen said.
Officer Zachary B. Brenner fatally shot King, 37, during a traffic stop May 20. Police said they were carrying out a search warrant on a vehicle when King, who they said had a handgun, ran from the car. According to police, King ignored commands to drop the weapon and Brenner shot him.
The Racine County District Attorney, Patricia J. Hanson, said she determined “the death of Mr. King was a direct result of Mr. King’s conduct that posed a reasonable and imminent threat to Officer Brenner.” The Racine County District Attorney determined that Brenner “is immune from criminal liability.”
