BUCKEYE LAKE, Ohio — With two major hurricanes hitting the Southeastern U.S. over the last month or so, there are still many people trying to get their lives back in order, and one Ohio man is doing his part to help them out.

Bob Lester has made his fourth trip to North Carolina, delivering essential items to Hurricane Helene victims.
“Every trip’s a little special in its own way,” he said. “We delivered some neonatal formula to some babies that didn’t have the formula they needed. That was pretty special.”
He said he started making these trips after he originally helped send helicopters to rescue people when the hurricane hit.
"I have friends in aviation, and we just put the word out, started having private pilots show up with aircraft and start helping," he said. "Then, it just turned into, 'What else do they need?'”
For this latest round, he said he filled about two truckloads of space heaters and other essentials, helping any way he can.
“I just think it started off because we’re kind of preparedness-minded around here ourselves and having a little homestead,” Lester said. “We just had some stuff people needed, so we figured we could send it down and help them.”
Lester said he plans on making more trips as long as donations keep coming in.
