Chrissa Loukas is an award-winning multimedia journalist and statehouse reporter for Spectrum News 1 in Columbus, Ohio.

As a Greek American, her path in journalism began when she published her first article at the front page of a local newspaper in Greece as an 11-year-old.

Chrissa has earned a master’s in Law from Gould Law School and a bachelor’s in Journalism from Annenberg Media and Communications, both schools of the University of Southern California. She also earned an associate’s degree in Journalism and an associate’s degree in liberal arts of Social and Behavioral Science from Santa Monica Community College.

Before Spectrum News, Chrissa worked for WBIR NBC in Knoxville Tennessee as a multimedia reporter where she covered breaking news, crime, politics, investigative stories, the Paris Olympics, feature stories and more. For her work in East Tennessee, she earned first place for Best News Video in the 2023 Golden Press Card Awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.

During her time in college, Chrissa wrote for the Daily Trojan, USC Annenberg Media, the corsair, and was a multimedia reporter and producer for ATVN. As a student reporter in Los Angeles, Chriss broke a story about a custodian who was allegedly fired for stealing a backpack which was picked up by several local news outlets including the Los Angeles Times. Her weekly article updates about the Coronavirus received record-breaking numbers for The Corsair, and she earned awards for "Best News Reporter" and "Excellence in Times of Adversity."

Chrissa is now working in Columbus, and she hopes to continue to support the community with her stories. Her favorite stories are those that give voice to the voiceless. If you or someone you know has a story, you can contact her on Instagram @chrissa_loukas.
