Rain and storms, some severe, will move across the Commonwealth late Friday night into Saturday morning.

What You Need To Know

  • A few strong to severe storms are likely overnight into Saturday morning

  • Damaging winds associated with stronger storms will be the main threat

  • A tornado risk also exists, especially across the western half of the state

Storms will develop across the western half of the Commonwealth during the evening hours and spread east overnight.

Damaging wind gusts and a few tornadoes will be possible for areas west of I-65 during the evening hours. The threat will shift eastward through the night and into Saturday morning.

The final line of storms will push east across the state Saturday morning as a strong cold front moves through. Gusty winds will stick around after the storms move out.

Temperatures will be in the 60s in the morning but will fall into the 40s during the afternoon, with wind chills likely falling into the 30s.

It is not common to have storms of this strength during the overnight hours in December, so be sure that family and friends are aware of the severe threat and be sure to stay weather aware tonight with the Spectrum News App.
