While we started out with some impressive rain early in the year, the last six weeks have been dry for most of the Commonwealth.
Here is a look at some of the rainfall totals we have seen and how they compare to normal.
Louisville:
We've only seen 0.04 inches of rain through October 14, which is 1.44 inches below the normal value for the first half of October.
We've seen 3.22 inches of rain in Louisville since September 1, which is 1.31 inches below normal for that time period.
Lexington:
We've only seen 0.17 inches of rain through October 14, which is 1.19 inches below the normal value for the first half of October.
We've seen 4.38 inches of rain in Lexington since September 1, which is 0.11 inches above normal for that time period.
Covington:
We've only seen 0.22 inches of rain through October 14, which is 1.26 inches below the normal value for the first half of October.
We've seen 1.85 inches of rain in Covington since September 1, which is 2.26 inches below normal for that time period.
Bowling Green:
We've only seen 0.31 inches of rain through October 14, which is 1.21 inches below the normal value for the first half of October.
We've seen 2.18 inches of rain in Bowling Green since September 1, which is 3.27 inches below normal for that time period.
While we are not seeing major drought conditions around the Commonwealth, the latest drought monitor does show a few areas that are abnormally dry. We may see this expand in the weeks ahead if our pattern doesn't become a bit wetter.
