LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Derby is five months away, but Churchill Downs is getting everyone ready with the official unveiling of the 2025 Kentucky Derby poster.
Artist Tyler Robertson’s “Official Art of the Kentucky Derby” will be featured on merchandise and the official programs of both the Kentucky Derby and Kentucky Oaks.
Robertson joins other talented artists such as Leroy Neiman, Robert Joyner and Peter Max, who have created masterful souvenirs of Kentucky’s greatest race.
Robertson is a Louisville-based artist known for bold colors and palette knife techniques. His piece for Derby 151 features horses running into the first turn of Churchill Downs with the Twin Spires in the background.
“I’m incredibly honored to be named the official artist for 151st running of the Kentucky Derby and join the legacy of artists who’ve captured this iconic event,” Robertson said. “As a sporting artist focused on Thoroughbreds, this is a thrilling opportunity to share my style and celebrate the power and elegance of these athletes on such a prestigious stage.”
For almost 20 years, Robertson was an elementary school teacher. He was also an official artist for the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla and he recently had an exhibition, “A Hero’s Journey: a contemporary study of jockeys,” showcased in London. Hie developed a love of horse racing while attending the University of Louisville in 2001.
Robertson will be at Churchill Downs on Friday, Nov. 29 signing prints of his art. He will be in the Churchill Downs Story, right inside the Paddock Gate between 2-4 p.m.
“We are thrilled to showcase Tyler’s talent as this year’s artist,” said Casey C. Ramage, Vice President of Marketing and Partnerships, Churchill Downs Racetrack. “His artwork celebrates the iconic spectacle of the Kentucky Derby through his vibrant, visual style and brings a fresh perspective that fans will cherish for generation to come.”
Prints and other merchandise will be available online beginning Friday, Nov. 29.
