LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Another multi-million dollar renovation is coming to Churchill Downs. The company announced it will update ticketed seating options and renovate the grandstand area.

Churchill Downs says construction on the Grandstand Club and Pavilion will begin in August and should be completed before the 151st Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 3.

The existing outdoor aluminum bleachers are being upgraded to what Churchill calls a “combination of 8,300 new comfortable seating varieties.” The renovation of the Grandstand Club will include covered and uncovered stadium-style seats and rail boxes along the tracks’ outer rail which will provide visitors a “trackside” seating experience. The club will also feature new and upgraded concessions, bars and wagering windows.

 “Like all of our recent enhancements at Churchill Downs, the renovation of the grandstands represents our commitment to providing unique guest seating options while honoring the historic significance of the property in order to achieve a world class sports and entertainment experience for our guests,” said Mike Anderson, President of Churchill Downs.

This project will also tackle the existing third floor box seats. The area will be improved and amenities added to help serve 2,800 guests.

The Grandstand Pavilion will convert the current second-floor amenity area into a covered outdoor garden area with new concessions, bars and wagering windows. The expansion will also create additions space for guests and add an outdoor balcony for more dining seats.
