LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville men’s soccer got back in the win column with a 4-2 victory over Lipscomb on Tuesday night at the Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
The win snapped a five-match winless streak for the Cardinals (5-3-3). Louisville tallied a season-high four goals in the match, the most since notching four in a win over Dayton in the 2023 NCAA Tournament first round.
Lipscomb (3-4-4) nabbed the opening goal of the match, striking in the 22nd minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Cards answered back quickly, evening the match in the 31st minute after a foul near the sideline on the attacking end set the team up for a score.
Leon Kondic played the free kick into the center of the box and Josh Jones headed it home for his third goal of the season.
The Bisons took back the lead in the 38th minute, but Louisville answered back right before the half. Kondic launched a corner kick from the right side that found Chase Vazquez, who sent it on to Parker Forbes, who tucked away the header for his first goal of the year. Kondic is the first Cardinal to record multiple assists in a match this season.
In the second half, Michael Lee scored his first collegiate goal in the 63rd minute off a pass from Elijah Brijbasi. Vazquez put the game away in the 83rd minute, converting a pass from Ethan Subachan.
The Cardinals ended the night with 17 shots, its highest mark in six matches. The team returns to conference play on Friday night with a match against reigning national champion Clemson. Kick off is set for 8 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
