Kroger’s Louisville Division donated $50,000 to the Louisville chapter of Blessings in a Backpack. Kroger says the money will help feed over 300 children and provide 12,654 hunger-free weekends to students in Kentuckiana.

“We are incredibly grateful and excited to receive this generous grant which will directly support the local school-age kids we serve,” said Kim Holsclaw, managing director of the Blessings in a Backpack Louisville Chapter. “This grant is a significant step toward addressing the pressing need to feed children in our community, especially considering that nearly 80,000 students in Louisville qualify for the Blessings program. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Kroger for their commitment to giving back and supporting the kids in our community.”

The grant comes from the Kroger Co. Zero Hunger Zero Waste Foundation which works to end hunger and waste.

“We’re humbled by the work of Blessings in a Backpack and honored to partner in our commitment to support and ensure children within our community receive the nutrition needed to thrive outside of school lunches,” said Vice President of Merchandising for The Kroger Co., Louisville Division and Blessings in a Backpack Board Member Anthea Jones.
