LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville's hometown theme park is just days away from opening its gates.

Kentucky Kingdom is set to open for the 2024 season Saturday, May 11, with an exclusive season passholder preview night Friday, May 10. 

The theme park said there are many exciting activities and events set for the season. Beginning May 25, the first-ever Petal Palooza will bring a splash of color to the park and kick off the summer entertainment schedule including Color Blast, which the park deemed as a "stunt meets circus" spectacular. June events include a silent disco party and a Color Run 5K race.

The park will also celebrate the Fourth of July in style with the first-ever Red, White and Bluegrass Bash ahead of the return of Summer Blast fireworks.

Kentucky Kingdom added there are other surprises in store. With the all-new Christmas at Kentucky Kingdom rounding out the season, it said it expects 2024 to be a record-breaking year.

“We are thrilled to welcome guests back to Kentucky Kingdom for our longest season yet," said Sarah Worrell, Kentucky Kingdom general manager. "With many new surprises in store, we know our guests will be excited for each trip to the park. We have a jam-packed schedule of fun planned for 2024 that is sure to excite guests of all ages every time they enter Kentucky Kingdom’s gates.” 

With temperatures continuing to rise, the park will open its Hurricane Bay water park May 25. Hurricane Bay features two giant wave pools, and guests can also rock out at the Sound Waves Stage, where musicians will perform each weekend throughout the summer.

Season passholders have access to 134 days at Kentucky Kingdom, with unlimited admission all spring, summer, fall and winter, the park said. This includes access to all-new events such as Petal Palooza and the Red, White and Bluegrass Bash. Other benefits include discounts on food and merchandise and free parking, in addition to the May 10 season preview.

Those interested can purchase season passes online for as low as $79.99 before prices increase after Sunday, June 9. Information on hours, season passes, entertainment and more can be found on the park's website.

Spanning more than 67 acres, Kentucky Kingdom offers more than 70 rides and attractions, including five world-class roller coasters.
