LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Gallopalooza is partnering with Churchill Downs Racetrack and the Kentucky Derby Festival to showcase its newest collection of painted horses.
Churchill Downs Racetrack sponsored the creation of 150 full-size horse statues in honor of Gallopalooza’s 20th anniversary, and the 150th Kentucky Derby. The public will be able to view the statues at a preview event held March 22-24 at Churchill Downs First Turn Club. The Gallopalooza Collection Preview will offer fans a first and one-time-only viewing of all the statues under one roof. Admission to the event will be a 2024 Pegasus Pin. Pegasus Pins will be available starting on March 1 at select stores for $7.
The collection of statues will eventually be moved to city sidewalks, business entrances and greenspaces as part of Louisville’s Beautification program. They will be displayed around the community from April to Oct. 2024. The Brightside Foundation is partnering with Churchill Downs to present Gallopalooza 2024. Brightside is a nonprofit dedicated to the greening and beautification of Louisville’s gateways and neighborhoods.
