FRANKFORT, Ky. — A large police presence responded to reports of a person with a firearm at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet building Wednesday afternoon. By 4:15 p.m. Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) announced that the building had been cleared by Kentucky State Police and confirmed there were no shots fired or injuries. 

Kentucky State Police shared that around 3:00 pm today, they received a call about a possible subject with a firearm in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet building and that Frankfort Police, U.S. Marshal Service and the Franklin County Sheriff's Office were clearing the buildings. 

As the police presence gathered outside the building, Frankfort Police shared that there was no confirmation of an active shooter, shots fired or injuries.

"We have responded to the area and are currently systematically clearing and searching the location," the Frankfort Police Department said in a Facebook post. 

The buiding is located at 200 Mero Street in Frankfort.
