LOUISVILLE, Ky. — School districts across Kentucky remain closed because of the winter storm.

However, that doesn’t mean kids aren’t learning.

At the Kentucky Science Center, students and parents spent snow days learning about water properties, colors and lights, and wind power.

What You Need To Know

  •  Schools have not yet returned from winter break because of the winter st orm

  •  Kids are missing their classes

  •  The Science Center offers a place to move and learn

  • It is open daily from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

Five-year-old Reece misses kindergarten class.

“I miss friends and my teacher,” he said.

Reece’s father was happy to spend the time with Reece and his brother Jack.

“It’s been great. Got to spend a lot of time with the kiddos. Got to reconnect with Reece a little bit. You know, a few bonus days after break isn’t too bad,” said Tim Minor.

At the Kentucky Science Center, Reece and other young students have been able to get their wiggles out while playing with big foam blocks, playing with wind tunnels, and learning about giant bubbles.

At the water table, little scholars are learning what can sink or float while working on fine motor skills.

Reece’s family has kept moving and learning while staying warm during the storm.

“It’s been nice. ‘What do you think, Jack?,’” said Minor.

Jack nodded. The Science Center is open daily from 9:30 a.m.—5 p.m.
