LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky Association of Health Plans (KAHP) announced a pop-up flu shot clinic at the Kentucky State Fair to help protect Kentuckians from the seasonal infection.
Throughout the Kentucky State Fair, KAHP will give away a free unlimited ride wristband (while supplies last) to attendees who get a flu shot at the Healthy Horizons Pavilion in South Wing B. The hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, but it is closed Aug. 19.
KAHP said Medicaid members may also be eligible for additional incentives offered by their health plan.
“We see this as a way to help prevent unnecessary strain on the medical system,” said Tom Stephens, KAHP president and CEO. “The flu shot lowers your risk of getting the flu. It also can lower the risk of having serious illness, a hospital stay, or even death as a result of the flu. These incentives have been extremely popular when we have offered them at the Fair over the last few years.”
KAHP said it is getting the word out about the promotion through radio advertisements and digital ads around the fairgrounds. KAHP is the trade organization representing the Kentucky health insurance community, with membership that includes Aetna, Anthem, CareSource, Humana, Passport Health Plan by Molina Healthcare, UnitedHealth Group and WellCare.
