LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Kentucky State Fair has announced the return of its special promotional days, with the 120th celebration set for Aug. 15-25.
While some discounts apply to certain groups, others, such as $5 Monday, will offer all fairgoers discounted admission. Here's a look at this year's promotional days:
- County Fairs Day (Thursday, Aug. 15): The fair will highlight winners from county pageants, offer unique competitions and unveil a new exhibition honoring all 120 counties, among other activities
- Military Sunday (Sunday, Aug. 18): Active military and veterans, as well as their families, can attend the fair for free. There is a limit of four free tickets, the fair said, and parking is not included. Wristbands for Thrill Ville will be discounted 20% and available on-site, and there is a limit of four wristbands per valid military ID
- $5 Monday (Monday, Aug. 19): Admission is $5 per person, including parking. Fairgoers can visit Discovery Farm in Agland and attend morning or evening performances of the World's Championship Horse Show for free while livestock changeover takes place on the property's west side. Free evening tickets will be available at the Kentucky Exposition Center ticket office
- Senior Day (Tuesday, Aug. 20): Admission is free for fairgoers 55 and older, not including parking
- Sensory Awareness Day (Wednesday, Aug. 21): Free admission and Thrill Ville tickets will be offered to fairgoers with sensory processing differences. The fair said Thrill Ville will operate with minimal lights and music from 10 a.m. to noon to accommodate those with sensitivities. Limited tickets are available, which can be purchased by emailing melissa@featlouisville.org or katc@louisville.edu
Those looking to save on admission outside of promotional days have until Friday, July 5 to purchase early bird tickets, which are available online for $8 per person. Online ticket prices will increase to $9 starting July 6 and $10 Aug. 3. Fee-free tickets can be purchased at select Kroger stores for $9 through Aug. 14. Parking is included with both options.
The fair added Thrill Ville ride wristbands are also available and can be added on to online orders starting at $30.
This year's fair features a diverse entertainment lineup, with more than 70 acts set to perform. Nightly concerts are free with fair admission, with the Oak Ridge Boys and Lauren Alaina among those taking the stage.
