MILWAUKEE — The Harlem Globetrotters and City of Milwaukee have been ringing in the new year together for decades. The famous basketball team, known for its impressive tricks and showmanship, brings its show to Milwaukee on New Year’s Eve every year.

Jojo Moore took his daughter, Jayla, to the show at Fiserv Forum.

“My daughter, she got this as a Christmas gift from her grandmother. I was lucky and fortunate enough to be the one to bring her here,” Moore said.

Moore said he’s always wanted to see the Globetrotters in action.

“When I was younger, my mom always wanted to bring me to a Harlem Globetrotters game on New Year’s Eve here in Milwaukee, and never got the chance,” he said. “So it’s kinda awesome for me to have a chance to bring my daughter here.”

Jayla said it’s a special way to close out 2024 with her dad, who’s always loved basketball.

“Somebody that played basketball for a lot of his life, and who also wanted to see them, so I think that it’s really cool, basically indescribable,” Jayla said.

The 2024 New Year’s Eve game marks the Eisel family’s second time seeing the Harlem Globetrotters perform.

“My wife and I came years back, and so we had to let the kids enjoy it too,” Jack Eisel said.

“My kids, when they were younger, they used to watch the [Globetrotters] cartoon and now we just grow with them,” Phyllis Eisel said.

“First time that I went, I didn’t know who they were or what they did, but now I do, and they are pretty funny,” Andrew Howland said.

The show delivered fancy basketball moves and funny moments, like when one of the globetrotters took a while to shoot his free throw.

“I’m giving these people what they are used to,” joked Harlem Globetrotter, Thunder Law. “This is what Giannis does.”

These are the types of moments that Moore said will stick with him.

“You don’t get many chances like this in life, so whenever you get a chance like this, you gotta take advantage of it and I’m just fortunate enough that I was able to bring here and enjoy this together,” Moore said.
