GREEN BAY, Wis. — The Green Bay Packers will play their second preseason game Sunday night in Denver.
After their joint practice on Friday, these teams should know each other well.
Here are three things to watch during the game:
Last year’s meeting
The Packers played in Denver last season and it didn’t go well. They lost 19-17 on Oct. 22.
The Packers rallied from 16-3 down to take the lead in the fourth quarter. Nevertheless, the loss was the Packers’ third straight and dropped them to 2-4 at the time.
The Packers finished the 9-8.
Meinerz mines gold
The Broncos feature offensive lineman Quinn Meinerz from Hartford High School and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Meinerz became one of the NFL’s highest paid guards when he signed a four-year, $80 million extension.
Leonhard sighting
If you’re wondering where former Badgers interim head coach, defensive coordinator and standout player Jim Leonhard is, he’s the Broncos secondary coach. Leonhard had a long and distinguished NFL career playing in the secondary.
After the game
The Packers wrap up the preseason Saturday, Aug. 24 with a noon game against the Baltimore Ravens at Lambeau Field. They will also hold a joint practice with the Ravens on Thursday in Green Bay.
