MILWAUKEE — The agenda for the Milwaukee Board of School Directors’ Thursday, July 25, meeting showed the board could appoint an interim superintendent.

According to the agenda, board members are set to consider — and possibly either approve or deny — the appointment of Eduardo Galvan as interim superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools.

A spokesperson confirmed to Spectrum News 1 that Galvan was offered the position, saying in a statement:

"The Board has offered the position of interim superintendent to Eduardo Galvan. Final approval is anticipated to take place at the Board's Regular Meeting of July 25, 2024."

Galvan is currently the acting superintendent of MPS. He was the regional superintendent in the district’s southwest region from 2018 to 2024. He’s worked for MPS in various capacities for over 30 years.

The board said it interviewed its three final candidates for the interim superintendent position Monday, July 15.

Former MPS Superintendent Keith Posely resigned from the position in early June amid a financial debacle the district is still trying to work itself out of.
