MILWAUKEE — In a meeting Tuesday night, the Milwaukee Board of School Directors determined final candidates for interim superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools,
That list includes:
- Dr. Toni Dinkins, MPS regional superintendent for the northwest region
- Eduardo Galvan, MPS acting superintendent
- Stephen Murley, former Green Bay School District superintendent
- Dr. Darrell L. Williams, assistant state superintendent for the division for libraries and technology
“We’re pleased to make progress on our goal of having an interim superintendent in place before the fall and begin the search for the next permanent superintendent,” said Megan O’Halloran, director of District 8.
Submissions for candidates were made by Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators (WASDA), the Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB), the Council of Great City Schools (CGCS) and from interested individuals.
The Board reviewed all of those submissions. It said interviews for candidates will occur during a Special Board Meeting at a later date.
The Board said Eduardo Galvan will continue serving as the acting superintendent until it can select an interim superintendent. The Board said it also has plans to conduct a national search for a permanent superintendent.
Galvan was selected to step up after former MPS superintendent Keith Posley resigned during a meeting on June 3. The resignation came amid the risk of having state funding suspended after MPS failed to submit required financial reports to the Wisconsin Department of Public Institution (DPI), nearly nine months after the reports were due.
