The program provides students with a permanent space to access professional attire, ensuring they look their best for interviews and career-related events.

The Wolfpack Career Closet was previously a monthly mobile service.

It recently reopened in a centrally located campus space, making it easier for students to access quality attire regularly.

According to student support adviser Sarita Field, the initiative aims to address equity disparities, particularly for first-generation BIPOC students.

“The Wolfpack Career Closet is addressing a big gap in equity access for our students that are first-generation BIPOC students, when it comes to getting gainful employment,” said Field. “Clothing can play a big part in showing up in an interview-ready manner, confident, authentic and ready to share their expertise and impact with an employer.”

The program allows participants to take home up to four high-quality career-ready items each semester, all donated by the community.

Peer career support specialist Julie Salt expressed gratitude for the donations, highlighting the impact of providing much-needed clothing to students facing financial constraints.

“It’s expensive, like everything else has gotten expensive too. So that people donate things that they don’t need, so someone else can come along and use it to fulfill like a certain need is really a really awesome thing,” said Salt.

To contribute to this initiative, individuals can bring their professional clothing items to Career & Employment Services at Truax, weekdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Donations should be laundered and within five years old. The Wolfpack Career Closet is currently accepting donations of items and outfits of all sizes.

Donations will directly support Madison College students in their pursuit of professional success.
