Kathryn Larson has been a Wisconsin resident for half a decade and is a proud reporter for the Spectrum News 1 team. For Kathryn, her passion comes from the challenge of pulling out the gadgets, gizmos and tricks of the trade to craft stories that are informative and engaging for viewers throughout the state of Wisconsin.

With countless stories under Kathryn’s belt, she describes reporting for the Madison area as an honor, as she’s able to work amongst individuals who care so deeply about making a difference in their community. Being able to find people each day who are working to do the right thing is one of the many reasons she’s so passionate about what she does. When asked about some of her most memorable stories, Kathryn brought up her coverage of children who lived in motels in Madison, Wi. While this story was a labor of love to share, it garnered an Emmy and regional Murrow award and ultimately brought awareness and much needed attention to an entire invisible population of families who are immensely struggling within their community.

When Kathryn isn’t in the newsroom, you can find her spending time roaming around the Madison Farmers Market with her husband, their son and their two Bichon rescues, Mr. Darcy and Miss Dolly Parton.
