Kathryn Larson is a two-time Emmy award-winning reporter for Spectrum News. Her passion comes from the challenge of pulling out the gadgets, gizmos, and tricks of the trade to craft stories that are informative and engaging for viewers throughout Wisconsin.
Kathryn’s focuses are human interest, health, and business beats, but she’s always interested in sharing any of the community’s stories.
Kathryn describes reporting on the Madison area as an honor, as she’s able to work amongst individuals who care so deeply about making a difference in their community. Finding people each day who are working to do the right thing is one of the many reasons she’s so passionate about what she does.
One of Kathryn’s most memorable stories was her coverage of children who lived in motels in Madison, Wi. This story garnered an Emmy and regional Murrow award and ultimately brought much-needed awareness to an invisible population of families who struggle within their community.
When Kathryn isn’t in the newsroom, you can find her roaming around the Madison Farmers Market with her husband, their two sons, and their Bichon rescue, Miss Dolly Parton.
