MILWAUKEE — After hundreds of Wisconsinites lost power in the wake of Thursday nights tornadoes, crews with Alliant Energy and We Energies immediately got to work.

Most customers had electricity back by Friday.

"We're ready to go when those storms hit," said Tony Palese, a senior communications specialist with Alliant Energy. "Generally, we have to wait and see what that damage is like to make sure the situation's safe before we can get out there."

Palese added that February's tornadoes and intense storms are surely a sign of what's to come through the rest of the spring and summer, and encouraged Wisconsinites to prepare now instead of waiting for a future storm to hit.

"We just want folks to prepare and think about that emergency plan that they have," Palese said. "Making sure they have the equipment that they need at home, making sure that they have an emergency backup plan if needed. Again, our crews are prepared to get out there as quickly and as safely as they can."
