Jason Fechner is a proud anchor and reporter for Spectrum News 1 Wisconsin. After his career started in the Badger State, Jason spent time in the Quad Cities and Indianapolis before returning home and joining the Spectrum News 1 team. Dedicated to shining a spotlight on the people in his community who work to improve the lives of others, Jason finds stories that remind people of their shared humanity: the selfless teacher spending his or her own money on school supplies; the reservist who leaves family behind to serve overseas; and the pastor reaching out to other congregations in times of need. All are examples of the amazing people Jason has had the privilege to help amplify their voices.
Jason defines great storytelling as the power to change lives and the world around us, and believes unbiased, fact-based journalism has the power to make a true difference in the world around us. When it comes to the approach, Jason emphasizes the importance of being clear and concise in order to provide his viewers with stories that are interesting, impactful and-- more often than not-- fun!
When Jason isn’t preparing his next story, you can find him spending time with his wife and family, watching his favorite sports teams, going for a run along Lake Michigan, or simply taking a stroll with a cup of coffee to admire the beauty of all that Wisconsin has to offer.
