MILWAUKEE — As Mother Nature switched between rain and snow and back again in certain Wisconsin communities Tuesday, followed by heavier snow as the day went on, snow plow drivers and road crews did their best to adjust along the way.

"No forecast is perfect, so we do the best we can with the information we have," said Curtis Reidy, a patrol superintendent for the Outagamie County Highway Department. "Sounded like we were going to have a little more work to do on the roads or what we were expecting going into the morning, but the road conditions had been able to hold their own with warm pavement temperatures."

While winter conditions in Wisconsin have definitely been worse than what the state dealt with Tuesday, the fact that it was the first storm of the season presented some challenges in itself.

"It seems like there's always a little bit of an adjustment period," Reidy said. "This one, as weather conditions change, they changed pretty quickly and people had to adapt to it."

As the day went on and conditions worsened, the Outagamie County Sheriff Tuesday night ended up putting a tow ban in place for the foreseeable future.
