1. Climate Connections: As winters get warmer, Wisconsin’s forests are pushed to adapt — with some help from humans

Across Wisconsin, forests are looking to face some major challenges as the state’s climate gets warmer and wetter, according to the Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts — from temperature shifts pushing out iconic northern species, to pests and diseases threatening ecosystems. And now, their future is top of mind for Ann Calhoun and her team at The Nature Conservancy, who are working to help the lands stay resilient in a rapidly changing climate.

2. Lasting legacy: How women shaped modern day school models in Wisconsin

As Women’s History Month wraps up, the Appleton community shined a spotlight on a legacy of its own. Back in 1894, Carrie Morgan was elected as the first long-term female superintendent in the state. An old building in downtown Appleton— the Morgan Building— is not only a reminder of Morgan’s legacy, but also serves as a memory of the early days of Appleton Area School District. Morgan, and other women like her, laid the foundation for future female leaders in education to take the reigns at AASD.

3. Veteran artist curates new exhibit at Wisconsin Veterans Museum

The Wisconsin Veterans Museum has a new exhibit open that features veteran artists. Throughout the Wisconsin Veterans Museum are 24 new pieces of art made by veterans. But what makes it even more special is that it was curated by a local veteran who is also an artist. Yvette Pino is an Army veteran who’s always had a passion for art.
