CANTON, Ohio — The Pro Football Hall of Fame hosted a ribbon cutting for their new exhibit “Character” Friday.

According to a post on the Hall of Fame’s website, the exhibit is meant to “enhance fans’ understanding and appreciation of where the game and the character traits demonstrated while playing it at the highest levels intersect.”

In addition to various artifacts, they have a display dedicated to the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award and includes the names of past winners.

“…we really looked at our mission statement here at the Pro Football Hall of Fame, which is to honor the greatest of the game, preserve its history, promote its values and celebrate excellence together,” said Joe Kendle, vice president of archives and exhibits. “And that third part of our mission—to promote its values—we really wanted to try to find a way to enhance that, and what better way to celebrate the values than to tell those stories of character in the exhibit proper here…but also throughout the museum.”
