CLEVELAND — A new facility in Cuyahoga County will provide a safe place and much-needed resources for at-risk youth.

A groundbreaking ceremony on Friday marked the start of transforming the Cleveland Christian Home into the new H.O.P.E. Campus.

The campus will provide a central location for children with the county's Division of Children and Family Services.

Many of them require care for mental and behavioral health, as well as trauma-related issues. 

"This campus is more than a collection of buildings," said Dawnya Underwood, executive director of the centers’ H.O.P.E. Campus. "It is a 24/7 commitment and a place where healing begins the moment a child or family arrives."

The H.O.P.E. campus will work with several other agencies including the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court, and the Alcohol Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board."

Its ultimate goal is to help children return safely to their families, or another family-like setting.
