CLEVELAND — Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael O'Malley said a grand jury returned the indictment against Jordan McDonald for his role at seven different street takeover locations in September.

McDonald, 25, was indicted for participating in the takeovers in Cleveland occurring form after 11 p.m. Sept. 28 through 4 a.m. on Sept. 29.

“These street takeovers are unacceptable, and my office will continue to vigorously prosecute all participants whose cases are referred to us,” said O’Malley in a news release. “We anticipate more indictments coming.”

McDonald allegedly attended and participated in takeovers near:

  • East 55th Street and Woodland Avenue
  • Lee Road and Miles Avenue
  • East 105th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive
  • East 93rd Street and Opportunity Corridor
  • West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue
  • Broadway Shopping Plaza on Broadway Avenue
  • I-90 near West 14th Street in Cleveland

Vehicles performed burnouts, donuts, blocking intersections or traffic and drag racing. On some intersections RTA buses and ambulances were slowed by the takeovers from passing through. Some shots were made as well, including an officer shot by an airsoft gun and three males being struck by gunfire. Near West 25th Street and Lorain Avenue, approximately 80-100 vehicles gathered to block the intersection, according to the prosecutor's office.

McDonald faces charges including:

  • Seven counts of Aggravated Riot
  • Six counts of Riot
  • Three counts of Failure to Comply with an Order or Signal of a Police Officer
  • Two counts of Obstructing Official Business
  • Three counts of Disrupting Public Service
  • One count of Possessing Criminal Tools
  • One count of Tampering With Evidence

Police said they are still acquiring more information via their Street Takeover Task Force Tip Line and are conducting follow-ups.

Several arrests have been made in connection with these street takeovers after the city council recently held a hearing with the police department's chief, Dorothy Todd, on the handling of the situations.

They ask that those with information call 216-623-5474 or email police@clevelandohio.gov.
