MASON, Ohio — Kings Island has its sight set on summer, opening for daily park operations beginning May 17.

Beginning Memorial Day weekend, the park will open its water park, debut its brand-new fireworks and drones show and offer free admission for military members.

The military admission includes active military members, retired military members, National Guard, reserves and veterans. Members will receive a free ticket to Kings Island for one day, plus discounts for friends and family. The promotion runs from May 26-29

Soak City will open May 27 and remain open daily through Aug. 15. The water park will then be open on weekends from Aug. 19- Sept. 4.

The park's fireworks and drones show debuts May 26 and runs nightly through Sept. 3.

Visitors will have new and returning events at Kings Island this year including the opening of Adventure Port, the park's newest themed area located between Coney Mall and Action Zone. Featuring two new family rides, enhanced theming for Adventure Express, Enrique’s quick service restaurant and the Mercado bar, a date has not been announced for when it will be open.

The SpiritSong Christian Music Festival returns June 15-17 at Timberwolf Ampitheatre featuring TobyMac, CROWDER, Skillet, Lecrae, Newsboys and more. An international celebration follows with Grand Carnivale, running from JUne 22- Aug. 6 with nightly parades and international food.

The end of summer does not mean the end for the park as the Halloween Haunt returns for select nights from Sept. 22-Oct. 28 and Tricks and Treats Fall Fest returns from Sept. 24 through Oct. 29 with fall activities, specialty food and of course, trick or treating.

Winterfest also returns this year, from Nov. 24 through Dec. 31 offering ice skating, Christmas lights and a tree and a parade.
