CLEVELAND — Cleveland Cavaliers guard Darius Garland was added to the team’s COVID-19 list on Tuesday, joining a crowded list of players that once included three of five starters.

Garland will not play Tuesday against the Pelicans as the Cavs are in the midst of a busy week playing four games in six days. 

Garland is joining fellow starter Jarrett Allen who was added to the list over a week ago. Reserves Ed Davis, RJ Nembhard, Cedi Osman, Lamar Stevens and Dylan Windler remain on the list. 

Starting forward Evan Mobley and guard Issac Okoro have been removed from the list. They are questionable for Tuesday’s game. 

The NBA recently lowered its isolation period from 10 days to six given a player is asymptomatic at the time of return. 

Garland has led the Cavs with 19.5 points per game and assists with 7.3 a game. 

Cleveland has become one of the hottest teams in the NBA and go into Tuesday’s game just 3.5 games out of first place in the Eastern Conference. In a battle among COVID-depleted teams, the Cavs won their seventh out of eight games on Sunday by defeating Toronto 144-99. The 45-point margin of victory was the second-largest in club history.
