CLEVELAND — COVID-19 cases continue to affect the operations and ability to play for multiple basketball teams in Ohio.

The Cleveland Cavaliers’ game Sunday at the Atlanta Hawks game was postponed in accordance with the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols, the Cavs announced Sunday.
The team also announced Sunday that center Jarrett Allen, forwards Lamar Stevens and Dylan Windler and guards Denzel Valentine and RJ Nembhard entered the NBA’s health and safety protocols, joining Isaac Okoro and Evan Mobley, who previously entered the protocols.

Cleveland next is scheduled to play the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.
Also Sunday, Ohio State University announced its basketball team again had to cancel a game “due to continued COVID-19 concerns within the Buckeye basketball program.”
The Buckeyes were scheduled to play the University of Tennessee at Martin on Tuesday at Value City Arena. The game will not be rescheduled.
The Ohio State University men’s basketball’s home game vs. UT Martin on Tuesday, Dec. 21 has been cancelled due to continued COVID-19 concerns within the Buckeye basketball program. The game will not be rescheduled.

Both teams recently had previous games canceled due to COVID-19 protocols.
Ohio State’s game versus Kentucky in the CBS Sports Classic on Saturday was canceled, and UT-Martin was scheduled to play Evansville the same day, but due protocols around Evansville, the game was also canceled.
Ohio State said the status of future games is to be determined.
“The safety and well-being of the student-athletes, coaches, staff and Ohio State community continue to remain the highest priority,” the Ohio State University Department of Athletics said in a statement. “All team related activities will remain suspended, and the players and staff will continue to be tested according to Ohio State protocols in consultation with the Big Ten Conference.”
The Buckeyes are next scheduled to host New Orleans on Dec. 28 at 6:30 p.m.
