OHIO — Join Spectrum News 1 at 7 p.m. Wednesday night for the Ohio Pride special to celebrate the LGBTQ community and commemorate Pride Month.

Ohio Pride dives into the strides made in our society from the perception of three different age groups from the community. There will also be legal and expert viewpoints on how far we've come and how far we have left to go.

Won't be able to make it? You can check the stories out below:

1. 'I wouldn't say that I would call myself a boy or a girl — I am Niall': 21 year old explains being nonbinary, challenges in the current generation

Niall Thomas, 21, came out as gay at the age of 12. Although Thomas’ family and friends were very accepting, many school kids and strangers were not. Thomas told Spectrum News 1 what it was like coming out as nonbinary in generation Z.

2. 'My wish is that one day there is no more coming out': Meet Bobbi Moore, the general manager of Ohio's only lesbian bar

For most of her life, Bobbi Moore had to hide who she was. She was born in generation X, and said being in the LGBTQ community was hush-hush. But after coming out at 28 years old, Moore is the general manager at a bar called Slammers — the only lesbian bar in Ohio.

3. Out and proud: Baby boomer couple reflects on progress made for the LGBTQ community

Back then, being in the LGBTQ community wasn't something that was discussed. Many people had to hide it in fear of retaliation and judgment. Phil Bush and Paul Bates were both born in the 1940s, and said "it was a scary time to be gay."
