AKRON, Ohio — The Akron Symphony Orchestra will hold its first full, live concert in 16 months on Saturday.
The orchestra will host its first of six free summer concerts. Saturday’s concert starts at 7:30 p.m. and will be held at Lock 3 in downtown Akron. Lock 3 is located at 200 S. Main St.
The concert series will focus on the work of under-represented composers along with audience favorites, the orchestra said.
While the concerts are free, the Akron Symphony is asking for attendees to RSVP before the concert online.
During the pandemic, the orchestra participated in a number of virtual performances. The group also continued its outreach programs despite not hosting live concerts.
Following Saturday’s free concert at Lock 3, five others will be held through Aug. 15 at various locations:
Lock 3 in downtown Akron on June 19 at 7:30 p.m.
Hale Farm & Village on July 9 at 7:30 p.m.
Hale Farm & Village on July 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Goodyear Metro Park on August 1 at 7:30 p.m.
Firestone Park on August 8 at 7:30 p.m.
Forest Lodge Park on August 15 at 7:30 p.m.
