She said she is very concerned about aggressive driving in the city.
"It's really bad going through the crosswalk," said Clifford. "I see a lot of kids walking to school in the morning and I am genuinely inly scared for them that one day someone is going to get hit."
"I grew up in Springfield a little bit, grew up in Chicopee," said Matthew Schiavoni. "Never had that happen really, but I didn't go out that much. But now going out as an adult, I see how people drive. I think signs and sidewalks are really important, really vital, especially this part of Chicopee, knowing there's a lot of people around here. A lot of people."

It's a plan many in the Chicopee community hope will be effective, especially on busier streets.
"It's definitely needed and even the street I live on isn't safe," Clifford said. "I won't let my son walk to school because of that. I don't feel confident that it's safe enough."
"On that side of the road, it's just mulch. There's no sidewalk and it's just open, so dangerous," said Schiavoni. "I mean I got my teeth knocked out and I wasn't able to figure out who it was. I think more police, more signs, knowing that there are schools around here."
