MASON, Ohio — Time is ticking on the summer, and Kings Island is already looking to 2025
The park announced several brand-new attractions set to debut next year at its Soak City Water Park for guests of all ages. Thrill seekers will have no shortage of fun with the addition of RiverRacers, which the park said will be "Ohio's first and only dual-racing water coaster." Younger guests can enjoy Splash River Junction, a kids' play area with seven new water slides.
"Whether you’re a new water slide rider or an experienced thrill seeker, Soak City offers the largest outdoor water park experience in Ohio,” said Mike Koontz, vice president and general manager of Kings Island. “Our park guests have wanted the thrills of a water coaster for a long time, and you can never go wrong adding new experiences for kids and families to cool off together, especially in Soak City.”
On RiverRacers, riders will board side-by-side rafts where they will be launched down a drop at speeds up to 30 mph, Kings Island said. Water jets will then propel riders up and guide them through the rest of the race. Riders can expect to peel off into split turns mirroring each other and enter darkness through an enclosed tunnel with special lighting effects before they zip through more twists and turns. They will then be rushed into an open-air slingshot, whipping them around 180 degrees into a "final mega drop," the amusement park said.
The addition of Splash River Junction will include waving pools and Salamander Sliders, seven new water slides the park said will include "a variety of gentle slopes, dips and turns that are sure to bring a smile to anyone." More chairs and umbrellas will also give families and friends the chance to relax in the sun or cool off on a warm day.
Kings Island added in 2025, Soak City will have more than 50 water activities, including 40 water slides. The park was just 12 acres when it opened in 1989 but has since grown to 35 acres through years of expansion.
With the 2024 season still in full swing, Kings Island said guests who purchase a Gold Pass by Sunday, Aug. 11 will receive five free Single-Use Fast Lanes to use on select 2024 dates. They allow guests to bypass the regular lines on more than 30 attractions. The 2025 Gold Pass includes unlimited attraction to the amusement park through the rest of 2024, including Soak City (through Labor Day), Halloween Haunt and WinterFest. its holiday-themed celebration.
