LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Kentucky and University of Louisville volleyball programs will open their seasons in style.
Both teams will take part in the American Volleyball Coaches' Association First Serve Showcase Aug. 27 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. The event marks the start of the 2024 college volleyball season.
The doubleheader will see four of the nation's top teams compete, beginning when the Wildcats face Nebraska at 7 p.m. EDT. Following that match, the host Cardinals will face Wisconsin.
Both games will air on the ESPN family of networks, the AVCA said.
"The AVCA is very excited to bring together four teams of this caliber to get the new season started," said Jaime Gordon, AVCA CEO. "AVCA First Serve offers another way to showcase the sport and continue the momentum from the record-setting 2023 season.”
The KFC Yum! Center will also host the 2024 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship Dec. 19 and Dec. 22, meaning the 2024 season will both start and end in Louisville.
Tickets go on sale Friday, June 14 at 10 a.m. at the KFC Yum! Center box office or on Ticketmaster. There will also be a presale period from June 10-13.
