LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Ending his first season at the helm, University of Louisville head football coach Jeff Brohm was named one of 14 semifinalists for the 2023 George Munger College Coach of the Year Award.

Returning to his alma mater, Brohm led the Cardinals to a 10-3 overall record, their most wins since the 2013 season. Louisville also went 7-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play and appeared in its first-ever ACC championship game, falling to No. 4 Florida State 16-6 Dec. 2. The Cardinals will face USC in the Holiday Bowl Dec. 27 at Petco Park in San Diego, the program's first-ever appearance in the game. 

Brohm's Louisville roots go back more than 30 years, as he played quarterback for the Cardinals from 1989-1993. This season, he also guided the team to wins over a pair of ranked opponents, defeating No. 10 Notre Dame 33-20 Oct. 7 and No. 20 Duke 23-0 Oct. 28.

The award is presented yearly by the Maxwell Football Club. The 2023 winner will be announced Jan. 10, 2024, with a formal presentation taking place at the 87th Maxwell Awards Gala March 8, 2024.
