Bowl season hits the Bluegrass again and three Kentucky football programs will cap off their seasons with post-season bowls. Selection Sunday on Dec. 3 unveiled the bowls and matchups for Louisville, Kentucky and Western Kentucky’s final games of the season.
First-year head coach Jeff Brohm and the Cardinals (10-2) head to sunny San Diego to play the University of Southern California Trojans (7-5) in the Holiday Bowl on Dec. 27 at 8 p.m.. Brohm had the Cards out and sprinting in his inaugural season at the helm, with a high-powered offense and stingy defense that carried Louisville all the way to their first ACC championship berth.
Louisville took their lumps in the last two weeks of the season, losing to Florida State in the ACC Championship and in-state archrival Kentucky. They look to rebound against one of college football’s bluebloods in the Trojans. Here’s where to purchase tickets and find more information.
Kentucky (7-5) heads south to face Clemson (8-4) in the Gator Bowl. The game is set for a noon kick-off in Jacksonville, Florida. The Wildcats will look to shore up a middling season, with impressive wins against Florida and Louisville. But the Cats also lost five of their last seven games of the season. The teams are familiar foes, last facing each other in the 2009 Music City Bowl in Nashville. The Tigers prevailed 21-13 in that matchup.
Finally, the Hilltoppers of Western Kentucky (7-5) will take on the Old Dominion Monarchs (6-6) in a matchup of two former Conference USA rivals. The teams will play in the Famous Toastery Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Dec. 18 at 2:30 p.m. Find tickets and more information here.
