NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Another Calipari is joining the Southeastern Conference, and it isn’t at Kentucky.

Vanderbilt men’s basketball coach Jerry Stackhouse announced he is hiring Brad Calipari, John’s son, as Vandy’s director of on-court player development.

The younger Calipari, 26, spent last season as director of player development for Long Island University in Brooklyn. He worked alongside former NBA point guard, Rod Strickland.

“Brad is a talented, young coach who has worked hard to prepare himself for this opportunity,” Stackhouse said. “He is knowledgeable, high-energy, and a strong communicator. We are very excited about his ability to add value with our student-athletes and within our coaching staff.”

He was also a graduate assistant for his dad at Kentucky and earned his master’s certificate in sports kinesiology in 2022.

Brad Calipari played for UK for two seasons before finishing his career at Detroit Mercy in 2021. Calipari graduated from Kentucky in 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in communications and media studies before earning a master’s degree in liberal arts from Detroit Mercy in 2021.
