  •  Owner Kristin Bloom says business has been slow, but they are doing what they can to encourage patrons to come in

“Having the city shut down is really impacted all local businesses that don’t have a major chain to support them in the in the short term,” said Bloom.

Highlands Tap Room had its first open day on Tuesday. Owner Kristin Bloom said business has been slow because of the ice and snow.

“It’s hurt a little bit, but our staff is coming in trying to encourage people to come in and visit them. They’ve gone without tips and pay for two days. So they’re looking forward to having more people come in,” said Bloom.

Bloom said they are doing everything they can to ensure the safety of employees and customers.

“It’s very important because it provides a safe place for my employees to park, for patrons to park, and, make sure they’re safe while on property,” said Bloom.

Bloom said she’s hired a plowing company to come in and plow their parking lot.

“We got the parking lot plowed and salted and prepped so people can actually have a place to park, because on Bardstown Road, it’s a little difficult with how they plow the snow. So, yeah, you know, keeping the heat on in here. So it’s nice and toasty for everybody and creating, like, safe walking spaces for everybody,” said Bloom.

Bloom encourages folks to go out and support their local businesses.
