Some residents said this isn’t the first time this has happened and have been snowed in for days because of the parking lot not being plowed or salted.

Justin Cahill, who lives in Meadows Apartments in Mount Washington, tried to get his car out of his apartment’s parking lot. He said having an ice-and-snow-covered lot is nothing new.

“The first time we lived here, a couple years ago, we had a bad snowstorm, and it was the same situation," Cahill said. "We was (sic) stuck for days."

Cahill isn’t the only resident facing challenges getting out of the complex.

"The disabled, they are trapped in here," said resident Ashley Eastwood. "They are not able to get out. They’re slipping and sliding. The steps are all icy, so it’s pretty bad."

Spectrum News 1 reached out to the city of Mount Washington, who said it is the responsibility of property management companies to make sure apartment complexes take care of snow removal. Their responsibilities are also outlined in the city’s ordinances.

Spectrum News 1 has not heard back from Winterwood Incorporated, the property management group for Meadows Apartments of Mount Washington.

"There was supposed to be someone out here yesterday, I think, to get it cleared up," Cahill said. "Somebody was out here; they cleared out the doorways and stuff. But I haven’t seen anybody mess with the parking lots at all."

Posts on Facebook said after Spectrum News was seen investigating, maintenance workers were shoveling sidewalks, but no posts mention the parking lot.

With more snow in the forecast and temperatures staying below freezing, Cahill said he hopes for a helping hand.

"A manager or somebody who actually cares about this place and does what needs to be done," Cahill said.
