FLORENCE, Ky. — In northern Kentucky, as cities are working around the clock to clear the streets after the storm, renters and homeowners are working to deal with the aftermath, as piles of snow are left behind by the plows.
Corderrius Florence, a resident, was shocked after he worked to dig out his car from the snow. The snow plows cleared walkways, but caused another issue. The plows left mountains of snow blocking Florence and other residents’ vehicles.
“They finally did the driveways, and they put snow back in front of my car. So, I’ve been out here for a good 30 minutes now,” said Florence.
Other renters echoed similar concerns. Robert Schwartz, another renter, said he spent 45 minutes trying to get his car out.
“They use the snowplows or someone snow plows a couple of times, but they’re choosing to not get close to the cars. So, it makes it harder for the people who are parked to back out,” Schwartz said.
Not everyone is letting the snow get them down. As one resident happily built a snowman at the top of the hill, taking a break from digging out his car.
The city of Florence shared it had two crews working 12-hour shifts before the storm began to try and prepare roadways. Residents living in apartment complexes must wait until proprieties clear the snow and ice.
While Boone County officials said they are working as quickly as possible to clear the snow and are asking for patience.
Florence said he’s ready for this winter wonderland to be over.
“I was ready for it to be gone when it came. So, I don’t like the snow. I do not like the snow at all,”he said.
