LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville City will face Rhode Island in the Eastern Conference Semifinal game, kicking off at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 9 at Lynn Family Stadium.
The team’s next USL Championship Playoff matchup is set after Rhode Island knocked off Indy Eleven on Sunday afternoon and advanced to meet the boys in purple next weekend.
Louisville City defeated North Carolina FC by a 3-2 score in the conference quarterfinal round on Saturday. The victory moved the club to 17-1 in home games this year across the regular season and playoffs.
The only team to beat Louisville City at Lynn Family Stadium? Rhode Island, who continues their dream debut season after the 3-2 upset of Indy Eleven. City played Rhode Island to a scoreless draw back on May 25 in their first meeting, but Rhode Island stunned the club 5-2 on June 22 in their return game at Lynn Family Stadium.
Louisville City has already garnered some hardware this season after earning the Players’ Shield, which goes to the USL Championship’s regular season champion. The club will look to add its third league title after winning back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018. They also have Eastern Conference championships in 2019 and 2022.
The 2024 USL Championship Playoffs are a single-elimination, fixed-bracket competition that saw the top-eight teams from the Eastern and Western conferences qualify. The playoffs culiminate with the conference final round Nov. 15-18 before the ULS Championship Final on Saturday, Nov. 23.
