LOUISVILLE, Ky. — While the St. James Court Art Show got much of Louisville's attention over the weekend, the 26th annual Louisville UnFair also took place, an alternative art festival that showcases local artists.

What You Need To Know

  • The 26th annual Louisville UnFair took place over the weekend, which showcases local artists

  • The festival's Young Artist of the Year, Jeremiah Morales, showed off his artwork and sold several pieces

  • The award is in honor of local artist Aril Ferrara, who was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer a few years ago

For the first time, the festival had its Harild Kyler Young Artist of the Year, Jeremiah Morales. He had the opportunity to showcase his artwork and sell pieces.

“This is, in fact, the first time I’ve ever sold any artwork," Morales said. "I’ve sold, currently, 11 pieces, and I’m very happy about that; I take a lot of pride in that."

The award is in honor of local artist, Aril Ferrara, whose art name is Harild Kyler. She has been part of the show for eight years and was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer a few years ago.

“It’s a wonderful thing to know that no matter what happens to me, my legacy will live on through the family that I’ve made, through the eight years doing this art show and that young children throughout Louisville will be able to learn new skills and be able (to) sell their art,” Ferrara said.

The goal of the Harild Kyler Young Artist Opportunity Award is to support young artists who face social and economic barriers for their creativity.
