LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Portland Museum in Louisville's Portland neighborhood will host Jefferson County's first children's museum, "Adventure House of You" (AHOY).

The museum has been a staple of the Portland neighborhood for decades. A celebration for AHOY was held Saturday, Oct. 5 at the 11th annual Art & Heritage Fair. 

A multiphase project, the children's museum is estimated to cost a total of $4 million, and $2 million has already been raised.

“The community has come together by word of mouth,” said Katy Delahanty, executive director of the Portland Museum. “This is a grassroots organization. Nobody here is ‘trained’ in fundraising; it's all about relationships and people believed in what we’re doing.”

The first phase is expected to be done and open by the end of 2026.
