BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The National Corvette Museum is now 30 years old, and they are putting on quite the celebration for the occasion, bringing people from all over the world.
Robert Brown has been a member of the National Corvette Museum for years, buying his first Corvette decades ago.
Brown said, “Lifetime member, number 845. I bought my first Corvette in 1989, and I’ve had 15 since then.”
He, along with many other Corvette enthusiasts, is coming to Bowling Green to celebrate the museum’s 30th anniversary. Brown has been coming to these yearly celebrations since 1995.
Brown said it's a party he wouldn’t miss. “Been to every one since then. I make it a point to come.”
Since it’s a milestone year, thousands of Corvettes are coming in throughout the weekend, bringing in Corvette fans from around the world.
Bryce Burklow, the Director of Events and Building Services at the National Corvette Museum, said, “Every milestone year, every five and zero, we have a caravan and they tend to be larger, around 8000, compared to our normal anniversaries.”
Stephen Hoese said, “We came on a caravan from Colorado. With all of these Corvette enthusiasts here, you get to hear a lot of opinions and ideas on how to do things.”
When they get to Bowling Green, they not only get to see the cars they love so much, but also can sign some of them.
Claire Steiner said, “There will probably be about 6,000 of them when I’m done. It’s everybody getting together, it’s about the car, but it’s also about the memories that the car makes.”
According to Brown, the car and the memories bonds this community like no other.
Brown said, “It’s one of those things where it supersedes race, color, creed, all that. We got people here from all over the world and everyone got one single interest: the Corvette.”
The anniversary celebration runs through Saturday, Aug. 31.
