ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. — Good news for Publix fans as the grocery chain announced it is expanding its footprint in Kentucky.

  • The new location will be at the northeast corner of Pear Orchard Road and Ring Road, and will be called Publix at The Shops at Pear Orchard

  • The company said the new location will feature a 55,325-square-feet super market and an adjacent 3,300-square-feet Publix Liquors that will offer beer, wine and spirits

  • Following the opening of its first Kentucky store in Louisville in January, the store has confirmed nine other Kentucky stores in addition to the new Elizabethtown location

In a news release, Publix said it had signed a lease on a new store location in Elizabethtown at the northeast corner of Pear Orchard Road and Ring road that will be dubbed Publix at The Shops at Pear Orchard. The company said the new location will feature a 55,325-square-feet super market and an adjacent 3,300-square-feet Publix Liquors that will offer beer, wine and spirits.

Publix said the opening date has not yet been determined.

“We are excited to announce our continued growth across Kentucky with 12 locations now announced in the state,” said media relations manager Jared Glover. “ We look forward to delivering the Publix experience to our new customers in Elizabethtown soon!“

The grocery chain opened its first Kentucky location in Louisville on Jan. 10, 2024, which is located in the Terra Crossing Shopping Center. The store features the company’s first Publix Liquors outside of Florida. Since the opening of the Louisville Publix, the company said it has confirmed two more locations in Louisville, three in Lexington, four in northern Kentucky and one in Owensboro, in addition to the new Elizabethtown store.

Publix said its arrival will create 900 new jobs with the six Kentucky stores.
